This large vase was hand turned by me out of a very old aromatic cedar tree found laying on the forest floor near my house in Georgia. It is a beautiful piece. I have left it unfinished so you can enjoy the smell and natural colors of the old cedar tree. The walls are thick and it is heavy weighing slightly over 3 lbs.. When I turn these, I try to leave them with some of the natural occurring defects found in the old wood. This piece has a natural gouge that is over 3/4" deep. I also do not sand them to a super smooth surface. I leave some what of a rough finish to give them a more natural character. You are sure to enjoy this vase for years to come! It will not hold water. It can be used for dry arrangements or simply for decoration all alone.
My holders are hand turned on my 50 plus year old wood lathe from down cedar trees laying on the forest floor for years near my shop.
I can't guarantee natures work. I can only assure you that when I am working on the wood lathe all the skill and ability I have will go into what nature has provided me. My craftsmanship is in every piece I turn.
